Do I need a mat or any equipment? We recommend you bring your own yoga mat to class if you have one. Some spare mats are available at the studio for use. The studio has a supply of yoga blocks, bolsters and some blankets for use. Occasionally we stock durable good quality and grippy yoga mats for sale. If you wish to purchase your own yoga props we recommend the following: A yoga mat, yoga block, a yoga bolster and a blanket.

What should I bring and what should I wear? You will need a bottle of water and a hand towel may be of benefit to you, too. Wear comfortable gym type clothing that is breathable and comfortable to move in. In cooler months, you may wish to wear a few layers that you can take off as you warm up and put back on during Savasana (meditation and relaxation). *Please don't bring your phone onto the studio practice floor once class begins. *And please turn off smart/fitness watches. (If you are a medical professional on call, then we will make exceptions but please advise us prior to class). With most of your days spent in front of a screen, you deserve some time to yourself with no notifications and distractions :)

Where are you located? And where can I park?We are located in the commercial precinct in Thirlmere, across from Thirlmere Primary School and the tennis courts, next to the Vet and Hairdresser. Plenty of parking is available on Oaks St in front of the tennis courts, and also behind the building. Parking on the street is limited.

I'm new to Yoga and Pilates, which class should I start with?We recommend starting with our Beginners Yoga class which is a supportive starting point. Each week focuses on a specific range of postures whilst techniques, alignment, modifications will be broken down to help develop an understanding of the postures and breath for optimal benefits. We also have gentler and slower paced classes on the timetable that you may feel comfortable to begin with as well: > Slow Flow Yoga > Yin Yoga > Restorative Yoga If you are reasonably fit and don't have any injures you may wish to try our other Yoga 'Vinyasa' classes or 'Flow into Yin' classes which always give options and variations for all levels. Our Pilates matwork classes are suitable for all levels, from beginners to more experienced. View and Book Classes Here: www.myyogaspace.com.au/book-classes

What's your policy on phones and smart watches? Please don't bring your phone onto the studio practice floor once class begins. And please turn off smart/fitness watches. (If you are a medical professional on call, then we will make exceptions but please advise us prior to class). Your electronic devices are at risk of impact, should someone accidentally step or fall on your phone. The buzzing of a phone and a lit up phone screen are distractions to you and the people around you. And most importantly - With most of your days spent in front of a screen, you deserve some time to yourself with no notifications :) Thank you for co-creating a soothing and supportive environment in our studio.

I'm pregnant, can I attend classes?Unless you are already a regular student of My Yoga Space, you are welcome to attend classes once you are past 14 weeks, and have been given the all clear from your Doctor or Midwife to participate in Yoga. We recommend the following classes during pregnancy: > Beginners Yoga > Yin Yoga > Slow Flow Yoga For those who are regular students, please contact the studio at info@myyogaspace.com.au or on 0404 075 700 to discuss which class would be best supportive for you. * We do not recommend Pilates mat classes after 12 weeks of pregnancy due to the strong engagement placed on the abdominals muscles. -
Can I eat before class? We recommend that you leave atleast 2 hours between your last meal and starting class.
-
How long do your classes run for?Pilates mat classes: 1 hour Slow Flow Yoga : 90 mins All other Yoga classes: Range from 1 hr to 75 mins
-
What time should I arrive to class?Studio doors unlock 15 mins prior to class start time. If it's your first time at the studio, please aim to arrive 10 mins prior to start time, so that you can fill a registration form and speak to the instructor about any questions or special requirements. If you have attended before, please aim for 10-15 mins prior to the class start time so that you arrive in a more relaxed state and can settle in. If you notice the chalkboard sign on the door turned to "Please don't enter, class and meditation in progress", this is due to an earlier class still running. Please be considerate of other students during relaxation and meditation and wait outside quietly before the instructor opens the doors. Thank you.
